ONEPLUS ONE 2014

ONEPLUS ONE (2014 FLAGSHIP KILLER), THE FIRST $300 SMARTPHONE

GETS LISTED AT NUMBER 4 AMONG WORLD' S BEST SMARTPHONES !

A brand is a product, service, or concept that is publicly distinguished from other products, services, or concepts so that it can be easily communicated and usually marketed. It is usually a unique name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that creates an image helping the product/service to get extra customer attention. Branding a product successfully been very important and the most challenging task.
Existing companies enjoy their brand image which helps them to extend the product line, but for a new company/manufacturer introducing a new product in the market is very problematic. And, being a product of a completely new company it wasn’t easy for One plus One to get this far.

Knowing about the company (OnePlus)

One Plus, a sister concern of OPPO electronics, was founded by Pete Lau on December 17, 2013 and headquartered in Shenzhen, China. It is a technology start-up committed to bringing the best possible technology to users around the world. It claims to be a born global company with high ambitions to build beautifully designed products that will be respected by the entire world. With this vision the company has an expert base from all over the world and OnePlus One is their first innovation which created strong hype among tech-lovers.

Brand Mantra: “Never Settle”

It’s because OnePlus always wants to understand the root problems of the customers and design their products accordingly and updating it frequently. It aims to provide the best possible experience to the users.

Why the name – “OnePlus ?

The name One Plus has a quite significant meaning and thus being used as the company/brand name

GOOD PRODUCTS SHARED
1 represents a user
+ represents sharing

The company believes that a good product will be shared with friends and family through word of mouth.
IMPROVE THE STATUS QUO

1 represents the status quo
+ represents improvement

OnePlus is never satisfied with the status quo, and they're always seeking to improve upon it

The Secret beyond Low Price

This awesome, stylish, sophisticated, fun to use smartphone however managed to keep their price so low that it made the entire world wonder about marketing and distribution channels. Smartphones like iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Nexus, Blackberry, Sony costs almost double than OnePlus which is as classy as these or performs better than some. An OnePlus One 64GB costs 349USD whereas an iPhone 5S 64GB would cost about $849. It is a revolutionary technology and the company has done this by following only two simple steps. OnePlus One is made by a Chinese company and it has put its full effort to keep the manufacturing cost low maintaining the product standard. With this low manufacturing cost they went for zero flagship sales, meaning that they have not used the traditional way of distributing through retailers and stores. They rather went for a production on demand basis sales through online sites.

Unlike other traditional mobile companies, Oneplus avoided advertising their product on media. They minimized cost in advertising and depended on online sites like www.oppomart.com/oneplus-one-phone.html and word of mouth because they believe that a good product will ultimately be shared and spoken about.

Comparison/Assessment
OnePlus One is listed as the 4th best smartphone of 2014 and here we will compare it with other smartphones from renowned companies.

Oneplus one wins on everything here...bigger battery, better camera, better sound, bigger storage, bigger RAM.
The OnePlus One wins here with lower price, enriched software, and battery life.

And in case of price it is way ahead of all the smartphone brands by charging very less for both of its 16GB and 64GB phone.

Also, here are some of the consumer perspectives about this particular brand...
"I did switch from iPhone a month ago and was dreading the change over. Surprisingly it was basic as I'm using Spotify for all my music, gave me a chance to clear my contacts and customising my device has been a blast, can't put it down. To be realistic, you won't find a perfect phone no matter what you buy. Ive always owned iphones. At times they've had dicky buttons, lagging, freezing, rebooting themselves, the list goes on. For a new company's attempt at cracking the smartphone market this phone ticks all the boxes. In saying that i've had a couple of small glitches but getting them sorted has been a breeze if you're prepared to problem solve and research the answers. I got the phone shipped to Australia as they aren't available here. For just over $400 outright if it fails me in a year I couldn't care. Bang for buck."

"Just bought.its pretty awesome.love it!!!"

"Got one. Awesome phone"

OnePlus Brand Positioning

Although OnePlus One does not come from a very strong brand, but it does create brand equity by creating differential effects; both generic (price based) and brand (value based). This product is in introductory phase. But they have successfully created brand awareness, familiarity, and associated with the customers with the great product image and personality. Product is made available on demand and preferred by people from all over the world. So, Brand Equity has been created this way.
OnePlus has formed co-relational Points of Parity (POPs) by ensuring premium quality smartphone that is world class keeping the price unbelievably low. And it has generated its Points of Difference (PODs) by inventing and using a new operating system which is Android L.

The Result
Looking at the comparison and assessment of the OnePlus brand it is pretty clear that OnePlus One is a very good deal for customers' money. It’s a phone that has all the power, specs and functionality of the top dogs, adds in super-customizable software and does it at nearly half the price. The brand has shown its potential through the very first product it introduced and succeeded worldwide.
And now that you have read the blog and know so much about the awesomeness of OnePlus I am sure this cheap Super Smart phone will be in your evoked set next time you think of buying a phone. See the magic of adding value to a product !
